The STice is STMicroelectronics' advanced emulation system supporting application development and debugging for STM8A microcontrollers. This advanced In-Circuit Emulation (ICE) system provides the most powerful emulation features such as code coverage, profiling, trace and advanced breakpoints, complemented with real time in-circuit debugging and in-circuit programming capabilities via ST proprietary protocols (SWIM and ICC) and industry standard (JTAG) protocol in order to offer start-to-finish application development for current and future ST microcontrollers.

In combination with free ST Visual Develop (STVD7) and ST Visual Programmer (STVP7), STice provides unprecedented control of application development – from building and debugging applications, to programming the target microcontroller. Latest versions of both software are available for free download in the ST MCU Toolset.

STice Modularity: Ordering a complete system

For Emulation, when ordering a STice system (#1 in the illustration) it is necessary to specify the accessories for connection to the application board. These are specific to the package of the target microcontroller. Order codes are listed in the table below.

For in-circuit debugging and programming with STice, it is also necessary to specify an ICD adapter kit shown in the table below.

All accessories listed in the table and STice active emulation boards can be ordered independently as replacement parts, or for adapting any STice system for debugging of applications for any supported ST microcontroller.
