THE L9615 CAN TRANSCEIVER ![]() The L9615 is a CAN transceiver, the interface between a CAN controller and the physical bus especially designed for the automotive environment. Fully compatible with the ISO11898 standard also known as high speed CAN physical layer, the L9615 high speed CAN physical layer is a two-wire bus system terminating at both ends with a termination resistor and allowing transmission speeds of up to 1Mbit/s. The output stages of the L9615 are designed to provide symmetrical waveforms for the CAN high and CAN low bus lines in order to minimize electromagnetic emissions. A control pin (ASC) is used to slow down the slopes of the output waveforms for smaller data rates up to 125kBit/s in order to further reduce emissions. The transmitter outputs are protected against short circuit and electrical transients. In case of short circuit the transmitter stages are disabled after a delay of 10µs to prevent destruction and avoid excessive power consumption. The device is typically used as a CAN transceiver for automotive power train applications such as braking systems, engine management systems and general under hood modules connected to the CAN bus. ![]() |
