VCX: 2.5V LOW VOLTAGE CMOS LOGIC FAMILY WITH 3.6V/0 TOLERANCE One of the fastest low voltage CMOS families is the VCX. Designed with the most advanced CMOS 0.35 µm technology this family meets the customer's need for high-performance low voltage solutions. ST's VCX products are designed to support the rapidly growing low voltage market driven by micro-processors and chipset migration to 2.5V. VCX offers a direct interface with LVTTL levels and works at industrial operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. The family features flow-through standard pin-out architecture and low bus hold versions and/or without "dumping resistors", indicating a large variety of bus interface functions. With bus-hold, the need for "pull-up" or "pull down" resistors for floating inputs is eliminated. Series damping resistors help prevent signal over-shoots and undershoots especially on fast bus communication. ![]() VCX Performance : VCX performs at a speed of 3.2ns (maximum) at 2.3V, making it one of the fastest low-voltage logic families. Popular applications include high-speed memory interfaces to standard high-speed low voltage designs. With next generation buses in mind, VCX is also specified for operation at 1.8V. Low power applications often include multiple ranges of lower voltages in the same system at 2.5V that should tolerate 3.3V as input and as output. Ranges may include a mix of 3.3V, 2.5V or even sub - 2.5V and VCX is particularly suitable for these ranges. The VCX logic devices are produced in TSSOP48 packages. Typical applications are : high-end workstations, PC cards, advanced bus interfaces, set-top boxes, desktop PCs, priniters, servers, notebook computers, memory modules, and Personal Digital Assistants. ![]() |
