LVX: LOW VOLTAGE DUAL SUPPLY
TRANSLATING TRANSCEIVERS

ST's CMOS translating transceivers the 74LVX3245, 74LVX4245, 74LVX3245 and 74LVXC4245 are true voltage translating devices, designed to solve the mixed supply interface problem. These devices are not overvoltage tolerant, but the received 3V signal is translated into a 5V output signal, whilst the received 5V input signal is translated to 3V output signals.

This is done by dividing the device internally so that the A-side circuitry is isolated from the B-side circuitry. The LVX translating transceivers come in two types: dual supply translating transceivers and dual supply configurable voltage interface transceivers.

The difference between these four devices is the different voltage values that the pins Vcca and Vccb can accept and these are shown in the table below.

Applications are systems with 5V flash memory and 3V microcontrollers, interface between CPU parallel bus and dual supply PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card Interface Association), etc. The target applications are portable systems, small sized high speed system buses, industrial applications requiring low EMI emissions and mixed 3.3V/5V systems. The C version has CMOS I/O thresholds.

Features:

  • Bi-directionnal interface between 5V and 3V buses
  • Control inputs compatible with TTL level Vin
  • Output source/sink 24mA at 5V bus and 12mA at 3V bus
  • Available in SO-24 and TSSOP 24 packages.
