TS431: MICROPOWER SOT23-5 SHUNT VOLTAGE REFERENCE ![]() Most switch mode power supplies use the well known Shunt Voltage Reference TL431 to regulate the output voltage. One year ago, ST presented an enhanced version of TL431 known as TL1431 featuring the best precision within this product range: 0.4% and 0.25%. Replacing the existing voltage reference by a TS431 (1.24V), the minimum regulation voltage value may be reduced to 2.7V. The TS431 is a programmable Shunt Voltage Reference with guaranteed temperature stability over the entire temperature range of operation: -40°C to +125°C. The output voltage may be set to any value between the initial VRef (1.24V) and 6Volts with two external resistors. The device is offered in two precision ranges 2% and 1% (TS431A) allowing design of accurate regulation systems. Designed with BiCMOS tech-nology, power consumption is therefore very low (25µA typical). Optocoupler manufacturers have made great efforts so the device can be used with low current, thus improving their lifetime and reliability. Current consumption of the VRef is thus a critical issue. ![]() |
