 TS97x: HIGH SPEED, OUTPUT RAIL TO RAIL  Consumer quality standards in the audio market are now at an all time high thanks to the digital audio revolution. The vast and dynamic range offered by 24bits encoding is now commonplace in home entertainment systems and in portable, personal audio equipment. Up until now, this level of performance was limited to the highest performance (and highest priced) professional audio market for recording or broadcast studios. The TS97x range of high performance Op-Amps is capable of maintaining the high fidelity of modern digital audio. Applications that require the lowest noise and distortion performance are frequently hindered by the parallel requirement for operation at low voltages. This does not help in the pursuit of audio excellence. The professional audio market traditionally uses 24V to 30V supplies to enable cascaded analog signal pro-cessing stages to achieve the required signal to noise ratio.  Simply by boosting the signal amplitude at the front end and performing all the subsequent processing on the high dynamic signal, meant a satisfactory global S/N ratio could be achieved. The consumer market is predominantly low voltage (5 volt DSP circuits, or battery-operated systems). The required performance can only be achieved by maximizing the dynamic range of the amplifiers (output swing) and by reducing the inherent noise and distortion of the device. The TS97x meets all these objectives, offering an excellent price/performance ratio.  |
