Several years ago, when we decided
to create this journal, we had a clear vision.
We didn't want a "look-mom-how-good-we-are" magazine;
we didn't want an advertising tool; we didn't want an academic
exercise. We wanted to fulfill a dream we had had since the founding
of Advanced System Technology: to develop world-class knowledge
and share it inside and outside of STMicroelectronics, hoping
to attract even further contributions from partners, institutions,
academia. This journal is a first effort in this direction.
As with any newborn, ours is still largely unprepared for the
expectations that we, his parents, have for him. It is, however,
willing to learn, to grow fast, and to outperform even the highest
expectations. Because no one can grow or learn alone, we are counting
on all of you to criticize, correct, and contribute. A learning
journey requires teachers and friends, and these are what we ask
all of you to be. Our success is also yours, and we want to offer
and develop a forum where new ideas are exposed, exchanged, and
challenged.
