New high definition television and video recording applications
require an entire chain of high-speed components to process
and transport video signals between various devices. ST’s
new family of high-speed video drivers and buffers have
been designed using an advanced BiCMOS process, which offers
not only a large bandwidth, but low power consumption.

The TSH343 and TSH344 are triple video buffers capable of driving
high definition signals on 75ohms lines.
The TSH343 buffer is designed to drive Y-Pb-Pr signals, and offers
an ample bandwidth of 280MHz, as well as a built-in DC shift of
600mV. The TSH344 offers 340MHz of bandwidth and a slew-rate of
740V/µs to drive RGB signals.
An internally-fixed gain of 6dB ensures a correct level of video
signal whilst maintaining good line matching.
| The Virtues of Single-Supply |
Both the TSH343 and TSH344 have been designed to operate on
a single supply of +5V. This key feature offers a major advantage
- it eliminates the need for a -5V supply. This advantage is
achieved by enabling the signal to be adjusted upwards internally,
in order to avoid clamping of the synchronization tip against
the lower output rail.

Application schematic
Another strength of the TSH343 and TSH344 is that the video
signal can be driven directly from the DAC output without the
addition of an input capacitor, and without the need for external
resistors, which translates into a reduced total component count,
and a simpler board design.
