Driven by the precise requirements from
the field of factory automation and
process control, ST has developed the
TDE1708DFT, a tiny low-side power switch.
Since this switch has two output configurations,
(load to ground and load to supply voltage),
it does the job of two different devices.
It has numerous in-built protection
functions and status indicators, plus
one +5V linear regulator to supply the
internal circuitry, and even the external
circuity if required. This feature eliminates
the need for costly and bulky external
regulators. ST's TDE1708DFT is one of
the few devices available on the market
to provide a supply voltage as high
as 50V. |

Housed in the tiny exposed pad, 8 lead 4x4mm
DFN package, it is the best solution for cases
where limited space is available (for instance
in proximity detector applications). The internal
output current limitation (in HS configuration)
has been set at 300mA, which is very close to
the maximum nominal current (250mA). This avoids
useless and risky power dissipation if there
is a fault due to over-current or short-circuit
in the output.
