Motor Controller

Motor controller devices are produced using ST's proprietary BCD smart power technology, which combines precision bipolar analog, high-density digital, and high-efficiency power circuits on the same piece of silicon. Thanks to the high efficiency, power dissipation inside the chip is minimized, allowing the use of conventional plastic packages.

Motor controller devices include voice coil and spindle motor drive combo based on a flexible digital architecture.

	Includes all of the circuits needed to control and drive the voice coil actuator and spindle motor, including all the necessary power FET devices.
	Includes ST's proprietary Smooth Drive pseudo-sinusoidal digital drive technique, which minimizes acoustic noise in the drive.
	Controlled through registers loaded and read by the system processor, through a 3-wire serial bus running at up to 33 MHz.
