ESD Transil™ protection for LIN nodes

The ESDLIN1524BJ is an asymmetrical diode intended for ESD protection of LIN bus nodes in automotive applications.

Automaker requirements for ESD robustness at module level for data lines are far above the capability of today’s data transceivers, covering only the ESD human body model.
STMicroelectronics’ ESDLIN1524BJ, is designed to protect LIN transceivers from hazardous electrostatic energy by securing an instantaneous response to transient over-voltages.
In addition to ESD human body protection, it complies with both IEC 61000-4-2 level 4 (air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000-4-5 standards.
The asymmetric clamping structure of the device prevents parasitic rectification in the case of electromagnetic radiation on the bus line, that would pull the output DC level to an unwanted dominant status. The device in conjunction with an LC filter results in correct EMC performance.
The ESDLIN1524BJ Transil diode is proposed in a SOD323 package, thus allowing space saving on high density printed circuit boards.
