Features
The main requirement of a transistor operating in lighting applications is the ability to withstand the high current flowing through the device during start up and short circuits. The increased ruggedness of these new devices improves the safety margins when the transistor operates in such conditions. The new devices are also able to guarantee a Reverse Biased Safe Operating Area with a Vcew capability up to 450V at high current level.

BUL39D and BUL49D
The collector-emitter saturation voltage has been reduced in the three new devices, and the diode forward voltage in the two devices with the built-in free-wheeling diode. This helps to minimize the transistors losses in the application, while the controlled switching time spread guarantees a stable and symmetrical operation of a pair of power switches present in the typical electronic transformer circuit.
