Features

BUL1403ED solution

The typical 277V ac push-pull configuration shows the reduction in components required when using the BUL1403ED solution - a saving of up to ten components.
This series has been designed to be used in high frequency industrial ballasts. It integrates a freewheeling diode (from collector to emitter), an antisaturation and protection network. The antisaturation network works like a baker clamp. It makes the storage time shorter and reduces the storage time dispersion without using additional external components.

Due to their special structure, the BULXXXED devices have an intrinsic ruggedness which enables the transistor to withstand a high collector current level during breakdown conditions without using the transil protection usually necessary in typical converters for lamp ballasts. All these features constitute a part count reduction and a large space saving on the board, making this technology very flexible for cost effective lighting solutions.

BUL1403ED and BUL903ED
The first two types of the family are available:
the BUL1403ED, a 1400V breakdown voltage device, designed for electronic lamp ballasts using 277V push-pull configuration
the BUL903ED, a 900V breakdown voltage device, designed for ballasts using 277V half bridge current-fed configuration. Both of them are packaged in the industry standard TO-220.
