After receiving many requests from the market, especially from
Japanese TV manufacturers, such as Sharp, Toshiba and Sony, the
new TO-220FH (Fully plastic High voltage) innovative package has
recently been added to the already broad power Bipolar transistor
package portfolio. This package is an upgrade of the popular TO-220FP
package. The creepage path is what makes this package unique from
TO-220FP.
Humidity and foreign material covering the package could affect
the superficial resistivity between leads and between the leads
and the heatsink; however, by increasing the creepage distance
any possible superficial leakage increase is cut. The creepage
distance path between each lead and between the leads and the
heatsink has been increased to >4.0mm, making this package
met all stringent safety norms in high voltage applications. As
well as the advantages that the increase of the creepage path
gives us, this package also offers a competitive low price solution
for the TV market. This package has been tailored to contribute
in making ST a leading supplier in horizontal deflection transistors
for low-end TVs. All devices found in this package can easily
be recognized by the “FH” suffix in the sales type.
