RF LDMOS in SOT-89
PD84001: The perfect device for PMR, UHF RFID & Meter reader applications

PD84001 Product Page

Over the last few years ST has been committed to finding new SMD plastic package solutions for RF power devices. After the success of PowerSO-10RF and PowerFLAT, ST is now introducing PD84001, a new LDMOS lead-free product in the SOT-89 plastic package. It offers a cost effective solution for applications such as PMR, UHF RIFD and meter readers.

PD84001 – 1W / 7.2V In SOT-89

PD84001 uses ST's latest LDMOS technology which was specifically designed for 7V applications. This new process reduces the overall parasitic components allowing PD84001 to operate at up to 1GHz while keeping the well proven ruggedness and reliability of the existing PD5xxxx LDMOS series. In particular, the Crss (feedback capacitance) has been reduced by means of a narrower gate width (0.6µm vs 1.3µm), which with respect to the previous LDMOS technology, allows a higher RF gain (+3dB) and higher efficiency (+5%).

Application Support Kit

In order to reduce design cycle time, ST provides a useful kit which includes the following items:
ADS2005A model
100 to 200MHz demoboard
380 to 520MHz demoboard
860 to 960MHz demoboard
2 stages reference designs including output low pass filter
   5W/7.2V/135-175MHz using PD84001 + PD54008L
   4W/7.2V/380-512MHz using PD84001 + PD54003L
   3W/7.2V/760-860MHz using PD84001 + PD54003L
Gerber files
Electrical schematic + BOM lists

This kit allows customers to first perform an evaluation of the device and then to use the hardware/software design as a starting point for their own product development.
